The Eve Constitution
A public-safe runtime governance constitution for AI workspaces and agent systems. It defines how governed runtimes should handle operator authority, evidence, permissions, memory, tools, delegation, sandboxing, budgets, failure, and human review.

Every action an AI system takes should be inspectable in real-time and recorded in a durable log.
Authority should be explicit and attenuated.
Agents should only have the permissions strictly necessary for their current task, and those permissions should be explicitly granted.
System state should be inspectable and recoverable.
Runtime state, context, and agent-produced artifacts should not be black boxes. Operators need clear recovery points, durable records, and known-good rollback paths.
Agents should leave evidence.
Autonomous actions must produce artifacts that humans can verify as proof of work and intent.
Safety gates should not be bypassed by confidence.
High model confidence values should never override hard-coded safety constraints or human-in-the-loop triggers.
Interfaces should project system state, not invent it.
UI for AI systems should reflect the actual underlying state and constraints, avoiding misleading personas or hallucinations.
Research artifacts should be reproducible when possible.
Public technical claims must be backed by data, benchmarks, or code that can be verified by others.
Redaction & Publication
As a systems laboratory, we occasionally work on defensive research that could be misused if published in full. Our publication standard is to release the 'Principle' and the 'Artifact' while redacting sensitive implementation details that could enable malicious use.
Every sensitive page on this site includes a “Disclosure Boundary” note to clarify where research thinking ends and private engineering begins.
